Katja Herbers and Mike Colter deliver incredibly layered performances as the show's updated take on Scully and Mulder (one's a forensic psychologist, the other's a priest-in-training), the storylines consistently go darker than you'd expect them to on CBS, and the show has an off-kilter sense of humor that acts as the perfect counterbalance to the series' seriously messed-up mythology.
